Century Pacific eyes vegan meat brands

Century Pacific Foods Inc., the food manufacturing arm of the Po family, is introducing meat-free brands to capture the growing number of customers looking for healthier products.

CNPF said Monday it is launching its ‘unMeat’ brand—the first vegan meat alternative brand in the Philippines, while sister company Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. is introducing a plant-based burger across all its outlets in the Philippines.

“We believe ‘unMeat’ is a valuable addition to our brand and product portfolio as more and more Filipinos embark on healthier lifestyles. At the same time, this initiative supports both our ambition to become a healthier food company and to do business in a more sustainable and responsible way,” CNPF executive chairman Christopher Po said.

Currently sold to institutional customers, un-Meat serves as a healthy meat alternative made with non-GMO (genetically modified organisms) plant-based ingredients, with zero cholesterol and trans-fat, while remaining a good source of protein and fiber.
