Food manufacturer Universal Robina Corp. ventured into the P252-billion alcoholic beverage market in the country with the launch of new spiked spirit products.

URC said in a statement Tuesday the company would expand into the spiked spirit category with a new product called “Chill Spiked Spirit” that is set to disrupt the local alcoholic beverage market.

The alcoholic beverage contains 5-percent double distilled alcohol, real fruit extract and soda water.

“Chill Spiked Spirit will offer a refreshing, laid back drinking experience, with just the right kick, minus the heavy feeling,” said URC chief marketing officer Mian David.

Chill Spiked Spirit will be available in 330ml cans at a suggested retail price of P51 each. It will come in red apple, lemon lime and lychee.

URC said spiked spirits, hard seltzers and other similar beverages were disrupting the global beer category and now account for six-percent share of the alcoholic beverages market in the United States.
