Megaworld Corp. said Tuesday it clarified and resolved an issue with the Bureau of Internal Revenue, which earlier announced a media briefing on the planned closure order against the property developer.
Megaworld Corp. compliance officer and corporate information officer Francisco Canuto said the company reached out to the concerned BIR regional office, and that the matter was clarified and resolved.
“Megaworld continues to fully support the government’s revenue programs,” said Canuto.
BIR regional director Eduardo Pagulayan Jr. said it suspended the planned briefing until further notice. “Representatives from Megaworld Corp. manifested their full cooperation with all the requirements of the Bureau of Internal Revenue,” Pagulayan said.
This followed a controversial media advisory issued by the BIR that it would serve a closure order against Megaworld for an undisclosed reason.
The withdrawn notice said BIR deputy commissioner Arnel Guballa, regional director Eduardo Pagulayan Jr. and other officials would be present during the serving of the closure order.
