Tan’s grandson named director of 5 companies

The son of the late Lucio Tan Jr. has been appointed director of the five companies owned by tycoon Lucio Tan.

PAL Holdings Inc., the parent firm of Philippine Airlines, informed the local bourse that its board of directors elected Lucio Tan III as director of the company, filling the position vacated by the passing of his father and namesake.

The younger Tan was also elected director of LT Group Inc., MacroAsia Corp., Tanduay Distillers Inc., PAL Holdings Inc., Philippine Airlines Inc. and Air Philippines Corp. in 2019.

He was also appointed president and chief operating officer of Tanduay Distilers Inc.

Tan earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2015 and Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Stanford University in 2017.

John Tan was also elected as director of PHI replacing Michael Tan.

John Tan was a director of Tanduay Distillers Inc. from 2015 to 2018. He also served as vice president for operations of Philippine Airlines Inc. from 2009 to 2012 and vice president for property management of Landcom Realty Corp. from 1997 to 2008.

John Tan earned his Bachelor’s Degree from De La Salle University in 1993.

Early this month, Lucio Tan’s wife Carmen Tan was appointed vice chairman of PHI after the passing of her son Bong Tan.

The Lucio Tan Group has interests in airline, liquor, banking, tobacco, real estate, education and healthcare.
