Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. plans to install at least two to three electric vehicle charging stations within the first half of the year.

“We’re hoping we would be able to install minimum 2 to 3 EVs by the first half. According to our partner, we’re expecting to have first few units arriving in the second quarter. So construction should start early June,” Shell president Cesar Romero said.

Shell teamed up with QEV Philippines last year to put up the first electric vehicle fast charging infrastructure network in the country. The joint venture agreement called for an initial 100 pilot sites for the EV charging posts.

QEV Philippines is a partnership between Spanish businessmen Endika Aboitiz and Enrique Banuelos, while Shell, a unit of the Shell Group, owns over 1,000 retail stations nationwide.

Under the agreement, an initial 10 e-charging stations was supposed to be in place in around 10 Shell retail stations as early as December last year.
