Zhangjiajie, China—The 2018 Silk Road Business Summit unfolded with the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce calling for cooperation on world trade issues.

SRCIC chairman Lu Jianzhong said in his speech the chamber is opposed to the zero-sub mentality that had become quite a norm in a competitive global economy.

“We need to pursue peaceful cooperation, mutual cooperation, beneficial development. We need to carry forward this entrepreneurship and pursue this international cooperation platform of BRI to integrate the pursuit of happiness of all people around the world so that we can conduct a pragmatic cooperation and pursue win-win result,” he said. The Philippines is a member of the SRCIC through the Philippine Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce.

Another is the issue of economic hegemony and trade bullying when global economic governance should be the involvement of all countries, Jianzhong noted.

He said the group should oppose unilateralism and trade protectionism, adding global interconnection was the guarantee for trade development.
