The Department of Transportation on Monday said the construction of the common station linking Metro Manila’s railway lines and the rehabilitation of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 will be completed by December this year.

Transportation Undersecretary for railways Timothy John Batan said during a briefing the construction of civil works for the Common Station would be finally completed by December this year.

The P2.8 billion Common Station features a 13,700-square meter concourse area which will seamlessly interconnect the rail lines of LRT-1, MRT-3, MRT-7, and the much-awaited Metro Manila Subway.

The common station project has been stalled since 2009, but Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade settled the dispute on the location leading to its groundbreaking in September 2017.

Tugade navigated through the dispute of various stakeholders of the project, including two conglomerates who were vying for better vantage point.
