This assurance was made to address misinformation circulating on social media associating death due to administration of local anesthesia during dental procedure on COVIE-19 vaccinated individuals.

“The misinformation is unfounded since to date, there are no scientific publications correlating adverse reaction of vaccines and anesthesia, either through general or local administration. Dentists take thorough medical and dental histories to provide optimal care, needless to say, Philippine dentistry has adapted to the necessary changes to prevent the spread of SARS CoV2, Dr. Militante said.

He said health care has evolved through the years and the availability of COVID vaccine is a welcome development particularly in the dental profession. Baseless claims in the absence of scientific evidence are extremely detrimental to the national efforts in moving forward towards the immunization programs of the country, he said.

As the only national organization of dental professional with over a century of history, the PDA said it strongly supports the COVID-19  vaccination program of the Department of Health and is one with the healing of the nation.

“The public is strongly advised to discern information and refrain from circulating stories without sound scientific evidences," Dr. Militante said.
