D&L Industries Inc., a manufacturer, and supplier of major food retail companies, is embarking on a P115-million innovation and automation system to improve manufacturing capabilities to serve better the needs of clients.

D&L group supply chain director Franco Diego Lao said the manufacturing innovation funding was part of the P8-billion expansion of its facility in Batangas.

“Not only are we spending on our expansion, which we put in quite a lot of money already, but also in our existing facilities. We also do realize that we have to keep up to date our existing manufacturing base. We’re actually looking at P115 of that [budget] going into just manufacturing innovation,” Lao said during the final day of the Manufacturing Summit 2020.

Lao said the company should continue its journey towards Industry 4.0 to maximize the benefits of automation and to future-proof operations.

“Accession to Industry 4.0 will help us manage future risks and prevent any losses from our end,” he said.
