The recent wave of undocumented aliens arriving in the Philippines, especially from China and India, has caused great concern among the citizenry.

Undocumented aliens pose problems not only to the local population, but also to the domestic economy and security. Many of these aliens arrive with false or forged documents and then disappear in the Philippines, taking on another identity if not stealing one from an existing person.

Recently, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. himself said all nationals wanting to enter our country should be required to apply for a visa, or at least undergo proper biometric scanning and recording.

Dermalog, a Germany based biometric and Automated Fingerprint Identification System  expert company wants to help the Philippines by providing the country with the proper tools to identify individuals in a fast and efficient manner.

Gunther Mull, inventor of the Dermalog system, says the equipment compares one set of biometric data to hundreds of others to ensure accuracy of identity. This is technically called a 1:n format, unlike many of its competitors that use 1:1 or check data from one person against himself.
