Ayala Healthcare Holdings Inc. (AC Health), a wholly-owned subsidiary of conglomerate Ayala Corp., completed the acquisition of Healthway Philippines Inc., one of the leading clinic networks in the country, for an undisclosed amount.

The parent company said in a disclosure to the stock exchange the purchase made AC Health the new sole owner of Healthway Philippines.

The acquisition is aligned with AC Health’s efforts to expand its reach across the healthcare industry.

“Healthway’s 7 specialty clinics and 40 corporate clinics integrate with the healthcare ecosystem under AC Health’s current portfolio of primary healthcare clinics, retail pharmacies, and health technology platforms,” the company said.

“Through Healthway’s specialty clinics that offer a comprehensive range of out-patient services including specialty consults, imaging, laboratory, specialized diagnostics, ambulatory surgical services, dental services, and physical therapy, AC Health will be able to serve a broader base of patients that require more than basic diagnostics and primary care,” it added.

AC Health plans to tap into potential synergies, including patient referrals, sharing of medical professionals and integration of diagnostics and pharmacy services.

With the acquisition, Healthway is seen to supplement and expand AC Health’s clinic portfolio, which currently includes 70 FamilyDOC community-based primary care clinics and 10 corporate clinics.

Healthway, which serves as a pharmaceutical distribution channel, will also realize value in integrating with AC Health’s pharma assets, such as IE Medica, MedEthix, and Generika. Healthway patients will benefit from a wider variety of pharmaceuticals to be made available across various price points.

Healthway, since it began operations in 1998, has served over 2 million patients. It and has a network of around 800 doctors across different specialties.

Its branches are found in SM North EDSA, Festival Mall, Alabang Town Center, Adriatico Manila, Shangri-La Mall, Market-Market and Greenbelt 5.
