It was not too long ago when Genevieve Manalad assumed the highest post at Savemore Market and received the distinction of being the first woman president at Savemore.
Manalad rose from being a management trainee to become the woman at the helm of SM Markets’ ubiquitous, round-the-corner boutique grocery stores.
A true blue SM lady, Manalad worked as a management trainee after being hired on the spot following a grueling 3-hour interview. She has served in various capacities leading to heading the operations department at Savemore and have worked side-by-side with Savemore’s former president Jojo Tagbo.
“If you want to know a person who is homegrown, then that’s me, because I never worked with another company except for SM,” she said, noting how her 24 years in SM Retail has shaped her into an all-around, highly-focused and organized business leader that she is now.
She has taken a hands-on approach to effectively manage the day-to-day operations of Savemore’s vast network of over 200 stores. “While it’s possible to delegate there are certain crucial areas that require my strategic attention,” she said.
Through her experiences, Manalad has refined her skills and developed a deep love for her profession, spurring her to set her sights on loftier objectives and work tirelessly to accomplish them. With a combination of her innate charm and honed expertise, she takes on every hurdle that comes her way with grace and poise, making it a part of her vibrant lifestyle.
