German automaker BMW is looking for potential local parts suppliers as part of an expansion plan.
The automaker, in coordination with the Board of Investments, recently conducted an event briefing and business coaching session for potential supplier at the Holiday Inn Makati City.
“They want to expand their current network of suppliers and they like to explore our competencies to help them in their international production not only their existing but also of future projects,” said BoI executive director for industry development services Ma. Corazon Halili-Dichosa.
She said the local manufacturing sector had been performing well in the past years.
“They noted our support programs for auto and its related industries with our inclusive innovation industrial strategy,” she added.
Around 15 companies attended the pre-event briefing that are expected to engage BMW in sessions on June 19, 2019.
The focus of the sourcing activity is on auto electronics, wiring harness, filters and some metal parts, said Dichosa.
