Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia—The construction of the sports and non-sports facilities for the much-awaited Southeast Asia Games is now in “full speed” and on track to hit the completion target, an executive of MTD Capital Berhad told reporters here over the weekend.

“We’re right on track to hit the target date of completion of NCC phase 1-A which is the sports and non-sports complex. The structures will be turned over to the Philippine government by October 15,” said Tee Kim Siew MTD Group chief financial officer.

Included in phase 1-A are the 20,000-seater stadium, a first-class track and field training oval, aquatic center and athletes’ village.

The non-sport facilities, Tee said, included the government administration building and housing for state employees.

The National Government Administrative Center being built in New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac was designed after the government center in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

“We’re looking to complete the project in 19 months. This is a big challenge for us but we are on track,” Tee added.
