A TOTAL of P31.297 billion was remitted by 51 of 77 government-owned and -controlled corporations to the National Treasury as of the second week of July this year, the Department of Finance said over the weekend.
The dividends recorded by the DoF’s Corporate Affairs Group as of July 12 already exceeded the full-year total of P27.735 billion remitted by the GOCCs in 2016 and P30.45 billion in 2017.
The dividends from the GOCCs are poised to easily surpass the record of P33.473 billion in 2015.
Dividend collections as of July 12 were also 64 percent higher than P19.1 billion remitted by GOCCs in the same period last year, according to the CAG.
The top 10 contributors were the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines with P6.224 billion so far submitted to the Treasury. It was followed by the Philippine Ports Authority with P3,103 billion; Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp., P2.844 billion; Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., P 2.593 billion; and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, P 2.535 billion.
