The Yanson Group of Bus Companies, which operates Ceres Liner Bus, is providing a 10-percent fare discount to all passengers on Good Friday, Black Saturday and Easter Sunday to support the government’s call for national cooperation.
This follows a request from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for “Bayanihan” to assist citizens amid volatile global oil prices driven by instability in the Middle East, the Yanson Group said in a statement.
The discount aims to ease the financial burden on Filipinos traveling to their home provinces during the Lenten season, according to Yanson Group of Bus Companies president Leo Rey V. Yanson.
“This fare discount is one way of supporting our government and President Marcos’ program of ensuring that our countrymen spend a meaningful Holy Week with their loved ones,” said Yanson.
The price reduction will be implemented across all affiliated Ceres bus operations in Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. While fuel costs remain high, the company said this aligns with the Filipino tradition of communal unity during times of economic uncertainty.
Under the temporary pricing structure, the 10-percent reduction will benefit thousands of commuters heading to provincial destinations.
The Yanson Group of Bus Companies is one of the largest transport providers in the Philippines. This marks the first time the carrier has offered a blanket discount specifically in response to the administration’s appeal for private sector assistance in the transport sector.
