With Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year fast approaching, it’s always good to know where to find exciting dining experiences. While Makati and BGC often steal the culinary spotlight, Gateway 2 at Araneta City has quietly emerged as a destination worth exploring.
World Kitchens, on the 4th level, elevates the food hall concept by bringing together the best of global cuisines in a space that feels upscale yet relaxed. It’s designed for diners who want variety, quality, and a touch of sophistication, all under one roof.
The newest highlight is 18 Jade, a restaurant devoted to classic Chinese cuisine. Helmed by Chef Peng, who previously worked at Singapore’s renowned Kai Garden, the restaurant’s signature offering is the Dried Aged Peking Duck Two Way, prepared in the largest open kitchen at World Kitchens.

The Peking Duck at 18 Jade is exceptional. Imported from China, each duck is marinated and dry-aged for a full week, then finished with a delicate mix of sugar, wine, and water to achieve tender, succulent meat and perfectly crisp skin. What sets it apart is the tableside carving: diners can watch as the duck is sliced and presented on a custom cart, a ritual reminiscent of fine-dining restaurants in Hong Kong, Singapore, or Shanghai.
The duck is served two ways. First, it’s sliced and wrapped in thin Mandarin pancakes with cucumber, spring onions, and Hoisin or sweet bean sauce – a classic combination. The second way is equally tempting: the carved duck is stir-fried in a light, sweet bean sauce and served on crisp lettuce leaves, offering a fresh, flavorful alternative. Both preparations highlight the versatility and depth of this traditional dish.
At 18 Jade, classic Chinese cuisine is brought to life in a setting that is both sophisticated and inviting. The restaurant’s name reflects its philosophy – 18 symbolizes prosperity, while Jade stands for purity and enduring value – qualities evident in every dish and every detail.
