The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has launched a 90-day application period for Philippine Standards (PS) certification for glass manufacturers and importers as the government moves toward full enforcement of quality regulations on April 3, 2026.
The window for applications follows Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 25-19, Series of 2025, which issued supplemental procedures for Department Administrative Order (DAO) No. 19-05, Series of 2019.
THE mandate covers several categories of glass, including flat glass, heat-strengthened and fully tempered flat glass, laminated safety glass, laminated glass and bent glass.
“The supplemental procedures ensure that glass products supplied to local construction and infrastructure projects meet safety and quality standards,” the DTI Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS) said in a statement.
The bureau said it would begin market monitoring and enforcement 12 months after the circular takes effect to ensure all covered products display the required PS Mark and License Number. Under the new rules, products that fail to comply may face penalties such as seizure, forfeiture or condemnation.
As the national standards body, the BPS continues to update and enforce regulations to improve standardization, uphold product quality and protect consumers.
Companies found in violation of these safety standards may be subject to fines, which can reach several hundred thousands depending on the severity of the offense.
