Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc. (AEV) said Friday it finalized the sale of its 40-percent stake in its infrastructure unit to US multinational investment company BlackRock for P13.7 billion.
Based on the agreement, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), part of BlackRock, will acquire a 40-percent equity interest in Aboitiz Infrastructure Corp. (AIC) through the purchase of 1.146 billion primary and secondary common shares and 1.408 billion redeemable preferred shares.
AEV will retain a 60-percent controlling interest in the infrastructure unit.
AIC manages a portfolio of critical assets including airports, water and wastewater systems and digital infrastructure. The partnership aims to leverage GIP’s international reach to scale these operations across the Philippines.
Aboitiz Group chief executive officer Sabin Aboitiz said GIP brings deep global expertise across energy, transport, digital infrastructure and utilities.
He said the collaboration would strengthen the ability of AIC to scale, deliver faster and create long-term value.
The transaction follows an initial disclosure made in July 2025 and remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
The investment reflects growing international investor confidence in the Philippine infrastructure sector and its long-term development prospects.
GIP emerging markets partner Ray Nadarajah said the collaboration underscores a shared commitment to accelerating infrastructure development in the country.
He said that by combining global investment capabilities with local expertise, the firms aim to deliver essential infrastructure that strengthens communities and drives economic progress.
The parties have signed both the share subscription and purchase agreement and the shareholders’ agreement to formalize the investment.
