The Department of Energy (DOE) initially awarded the contract in January 2024 to Copenhagen Infrastructure New Market Fund (Philippines) Corp. (CI NMF), another subsidiary of CIP. The DOE approved the assignment of this WESC to SJOWPC on June 20, 2025.

SJOWPC said it intends to apply for an environmental compliance certificate (ECC) for the project. The application will be filed with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) under the Philippine Environmental Impact Statement System implemented by the Environmental Management Bureau.

CIP is a global company that invests in renewable energy projects including wind, solar and bioenergy.
