DigiPlus halts Brazil online gaming platform

DigiPlus Interactive Corp. said Friday it paused operations of its Brazilian platform “GamePlus” less than one month after its soft launch.

The company said it is now preparing for a full rollout of online games in early 2026. The three-week soft launch was used as a live learning laboratory, capturing valuable insights into Brazilian player behavior, cultural preferences, and entertainment dynamics, according to a disclosure to the stock exchange.

DigiPlus chairman Eusebio Tanco said the move is strategic. “We are taking the strategic step to pause GamePlus in Brazil, so we can come back stronger with a digital entertainment offering that is not only locally relevant but also resonates deeply with Brazilian culture and entertainment habits,” Tanco said.

The findings from the soft launch will be instrumental in sharpening the company’s research and development and guiding the design of a uniquely local game experience, the company said.

The pause is part of a long-term strategy focused on quality, cultural resonance and sustainability, it said.

Teams from the Philippines headquarters and Brazil are now collaborating on a self-developed, locally tailored game, which DigiPlus aims to fully launch in early 2026.

DigiPlus launched GamePlus in Brazil on Sept. 22 as part of its move to expand overseas.

DigiPlus operates Philippine platforms such as BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GameZone. Aside from Brazil, DigiPlus also has a pending gaming application in South Africa.
