The Department of Tourism (DOT) advised all tourists to remain alert after a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Cebu on the night of Sept. 30, 2025, with tremors felt across the Visayas, and parts of Luzon and Mindanao.
Tourists should confirm the status of destinations before traveling, as several sites in affected areas may be closed for safety inspections, the DOT said in a statement.
It also reminded the public of the possibility of aftershocks and encouraged them to monitor official bulletins from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
The DOT said it remains fully responsive to the needs of affected tourists and tourism stakeholders. Its lines remain open for travelers needing assistance: Tourist Assistance Call Center at 151-8687; DOT Tourist Assistance Agents at 0954-253-3215; and the Department of Tourism – Philippines Facebook page.
Regional offices are working closely with concerned agencies and local government units (LGUs) to assess the safety of access roads and bridges and the condition of affected tourism establishments and workers, it said.
The DOT said it would issue further updates as needed.
