Maynilad expands sewer network to 653.7 km as of mid-2025

West zone water concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. said it has expanded its sewer network to 653.7 kilometers in the first half of 2025, up from 425 kilometers before its reprivatization in 2006.

The expansion supports the development of wastewater facilities to improve sanitation and reduce pollution in the west zone, it said.

Maynilad head of wastewater management Zmel Grabillo said the company continues to expand its wastewater infrastructure to meet long-term sanitation needs and environmental standards.

“Beyond treatment plant construction, the installation of underground sewer lines is a critical component of this effort,” Grabillo said.

Maynilad said that as of June 2025, it was operating 24 water reclamation facilities with a combined treatment capacity of 743.5 million liters per day (MLD).

The company allocated P163 billion for its 2023–2027 capital investment program. This includes five new water reclamation facilities with a total capacity of 314 MLD and about 60 kilometers of additional sewer pipelines.

Maynilad said its long-term business plan also calls for 10 more water reclamation facilities and more than 300 kilometers of pipelines through 2047, targeting 76-percent sewerage coverage by 2046.

The remaining areas will be served through scheduled sanitation services.

Maynilad is the largest private water concessionaire in the Philippines by customer base. It serves the west zone of the Greater Manila Area under the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), covering parts of Manila, Quezon City and Makati, as well as Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon in Metro Manila; and Cavite City, Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario in Cavite province.
