The Philippines’ WCC Aeronautical and Technological College has signed a memorandum of understanding with Cambodia’s Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC) to establish WCC AeroTech University in Phnom Penh, bringing Filipino expertise in aviation education to the region.
The university will offer degree programs in aircraft maintenance technology, avionics, airline operations management and aeronautical engineering, along with a certificate course for flight attendants.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina Roque said the partnership highlights the Philippines’ growing role as a provider of knowledge-based services.
“When our schools and professionals bring their knowledge to international markets, they raise the profile of the Philippines as a hub for skills and innovation,” she said.
“This means more demand for Filipino educators, engineers and service providers, not only boosting jobs but also inspiring pride in our people’s capabilities,” she said.
WCC president Raymond Patrick Guico described the agreement as a “milestone for Philippine higher education,” noting the school will build on its track record of training “thousands of aviation professionals locally to deliver the same world-class programs in Cambodia.”
OCIC vice president Thierry Tea said the project supports Cambodia’s human capital agenda.
“Working with WCC allows us to open doors for Cambodian youth to access top-quality aviation training while connecting with Filipino professionals who have a proven track record in the industry,” he said.
