PSA: Building constructions rebounded by 13% in June 2025

Building construction in the Philippines rose 13 percent in June 2025, following weak activities in the previous months, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed over the weekend.

The PSA said 16,128 building projects were approved in June, up from 14,270 a year earlier.

Residential buildings accounted for the majority of the new permits at 11,058, or 68.6 percent of the total. This was a 15.2-percent increase from the same period last year.

Most residential constructions were single-type houses with 9,895 constructions (89.5 percent).

Non-residential type of constructions reached 3,011 or 18.7 percent of the total in June. This increased 5.8 percent from a year ago, with most involving commercial buildings (2,023).

Addition, which refers to any new construction that increases the height or area of an existing building, alteration and repair of existing structures, and other constructions contributed 2.9 percent, 7.2 percent, and 2.7 percent to the total number of constructions, respectively.

The total value of construction projects reached P51.67 billion in June, a 39-percent increase from P40.25 billion in June 2024.

Non-residential construction, valued at P24.37 billion, represented 47.2 percent of the total value and saw a 55 percent increase from the previous year.

Residential construction values rose 20.7 percent to P22.32 billion, making up 43.2 percent of the total.

The total floor area of construction projects in June increased by 39 percent to 4.04 million square meters.

Meanwhile, the average cost of construction was P11,600.09 per square meter in June 2025, a 3.1 percent decrease from P11,965.81 in June 2024.

 Among residential constructions, residential condominium posted the highest average cost of P15,255.43 per square meter, while duplex/quadruplex recorded the lowest average cost of P4,693.20 per square meter.
