Allianz PNB Life pushes sustainability as core business strategy at Zero Summit

Allianz PNB Life placed sustainability at the forefront of its business agenda during the Zero Summit, with chief marketing officer Gino Riola emphasizing the need for companies to embed environmental and social responsibility into their core strategies.

Speaking at the event’s opening session, Riola urged fellow business leaders to move beyond token gestures and embrace purpose-driven leadership that aligns sustainability with long-term business goals.

“Sustainability must be integrated into the business model. It should not be mere optics. The effort goes to waste if it can’t be continued,” he said as he discussed how aligning ESG with business goals helps realize the triple bottom line: People, Planet, Profit.

AZPNBL’s ongoing partnership with SOS Food Rescue Philippines is a key example of this commitment in action. Since launching the collaboration in 2023, the company has donated a food rescue vehicle, conducted food drives, and mobilized employee volunteers in support of SOS’s mission to redistribute surplus food to underserved communities.

“It is in these partnerships that our mission can reach farther, respond faster, and serve more communities. We recover surplus and deliver it to those who need it most, creating a food system that is not only charitable but circular by design,” said SOS Food Rescue Philippines country general manager Rachel Marie Q. Luna

Luna cited the support from partners like Allianz PNB Life, for which SOS has already surpassed its year-to-date target with more than 2.5 million meals served.

Riola also highlighted AZPNBL’s carbon reduction efforts and its upcoming move to a certified green building in Makati, aligning with Allianz Group’s global climate action agenda.
