Sun Life PH sets Guinness record for solar lamps

Sun Life Philippines secured the Guiness World Records title for the largest display of solar-powered lamps, after teaming up with Liter of Light and the National Museum of the Philippines.

The record-breaking installation, showcased at the National Museum of the Philippines, is part of Circle of Light, Sun Life’s flagship program marking its 130th anniversary in the Philippines. The display features nearly 3,000 hand-built solar lamps arranged to symbolize unity, hope and community solidarity.

“This achievement is a shining example of what we can accomplish when purpose-driven organizations and passionate individuals come together,” said Benedict Sison, chief executive and country head of Sun Life Philippines.

“As we celebrate our 130th anniversary, we are proud to mark this milestone not just with a record, but with a message that light, in all its forms, has the power to transform lives,” he said.

Sun Life employees, advisors, volunteers and community members assembled the solar lamps during workshops led by Liter of Light, a non-profit organization focused on solar lighting solutions. The initiative also collaborated with Odangputik Art Space, a community of potters who hand-shaped each lamp.

The National Museum of the Philippines is hosting the display, which will remain open to the public from July 2 to July 9, 2025.

Following the exhibition, Sun Life will donate the solar lamps to underserved communities, providing clean energy and enabling students to study at night.

The Circle of Light initiative aligns with Sun Life’s broader commitment to sustainability, financial inclusion and nation-building, supporting its mission to help Filipinos achieve lifetime financial security and healthier lives.
