Globe Telecom, GCash and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) are providing smartphones to 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) families to boost financial inclusion and improve their lives.

Under the pre-loved phone donation drive, Globe is donating refurbished smartphones, enabling recipients to use GCash for financial transactions. This is in line with its long-standing commitment to digital inclusion, ensuring that no Filipino is left behind in the country’s digitalization journey.

Many Level 1 4Ps households struggle to manage their funds digitally due to a lack of smartphones, relying on ATMs to receive P2,000 to P5,000 every two months through the program.

By shifting to GCash, they can get their grants more securely and efficiently while reducing dependence on cash transactions.

“Through mobile phones, 4Ps members can receive their cash grants faster, safer, and more efficiently and they can be better assisted in financial transactions, such as using digital banking and other services that can help their livelihoods,” DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said.

Globe deputy chief executive Carl Cruz said Globe’s support aims to open doors to education, livelihood opportunities and essential services.

“We ask that these cellphones not only serve as gadgets for receiving aid, calling, chatting, texting or browsing social media. We ask that they serve as a gateway to opportunities for a better tomorrow for your families such as online education and micro or small businesses. So I hope you can use them for meaningful activities to uplift your lives,” Cruz said.

“We sincerely thank our partners who continue to support our mission: to make digitalization and financial inclusion within the reach of every Filipino, or in simple words, to provide equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of their status in life, to have access to financial services,” said Oscar Enrico Reyes Jr., president and chief executive of G-Xchange Inc.

The initiative kicked off with the DSWD e-Panalo ang Kinabukasan orientation and unboxing session at the Malabon Amphitheater on Feb. 18, 2025.
