Ria Money Transfer, a unit of Euronet Worldwide Inc., opened a new office in Makati’s Zuellig Building, the company said Thursday, underscoring its commitment to the Philippine remittance market.
The Philippines is a major recipient of remittances, which are a key driver of its economy.
“Ria’s expansion in Manila is about more than increasing our physical presence. It’s about reflecting our long-term commitment to the Filipino community,” said Ria president and chief executive Shawn Fielder at a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The new office will serve as a hub for Ria to expand its services in the region, the company said.
Ria offers money transfers, mobile wallet integrations, currency exchange and bill payments, with a network spanning over 607,000 locations in nearly 200 countries.
Ria has partnerships with Palawan Pawnshop, Cebuana Lhuillier and M Lhuillier for cash pickups, and with banks including BDO Unibank Inc., Metrobank, Chinabank and Asia United Bank for direct deposits. It also integrates with digital wallet GCash.
The company said it employs nearly 100 people in the Philippines in roles including customer care, compliance, finance and development.
Ria teamed up with Save the Children since 2022. In 2025, the partnership will fund the “Resilient Outcomes through Opportunities for Transformative Solutions (ROOTS) by Children” program in Antipolo City, focusing on climate resilience and environmental protection training for youth.
“We believe that financial inclusion goes hand-in-hand with education and community development,” said Ria managing director Asia Pacific Espen Kristensen.
