Metro Pacific Investments Corp. said mWell, its digital healthcare arm, introduced mWell OnTheGo drone delivery, the first in Southeast Asia.

“Distance should never be a barrier to healthcare,” said mWell chairman Manuel Pangilinan.

“Through drones, we’re bridging the distance between patients and life-saving medicines. This isn’t simply a matter of convenience, but of getting help to every Filipino that needs it,” he said.

“Our commitment has always been to find innovative ways to make health and wellness accessible, affordable and available to our countrymen anytime, anywhere. Drone technology enables us to provide medical supplies to indigenous peoples communities and remote areas nationwide,” said mWell chief executive and MPIC president and chief finance, risk and sustainability pfficer Chaye Cabal- Revilla.

“Through our partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology, we will be able to serve more areas and enhance patience outcomes,” said Revilla.

The launch was attended by Department of Information and Communications Secretary Ivan John Uy, Department of Health assistant secretary Ariel Valencia, mWell representatives led by business development head Tisha Quinitio, Philippines Flying Labs (PFL) managing director Dr. Heidi Sampang and other government officials.

“We can proudly say that we are not being left behind by other countries. We have a medicine drone delivery service that can provide medicines to far flung areas in our country. Many of our countrymen will benefit from this service. We would like to thank our private partner, mWell for helping us make this happen,” said Uy.

Using drone technology, the 14-kilometer journey on the habal habal that typically takes two hours can be completed in just ten minutes. Similarly, the island drone delivery from Sibutu to Sipangkot in Tawi-Tawi, which normally takes two hours, will only require eight minutes.

Using the mWell app, medicine delivery using drone technology brings healthcare to greater heights, the company said.
