“Filipinos’ resilience shines through in how they adapt their purchasing habits to make ends meet. These insights highlight not only the shifting preferences of sari-sari store customers but also their enduring ingenuity in navigating economic challenges,” said Packworks chief data officer Andoy Montiel.

Key findings from the Sari IQ report reveals a soaring demand for flavor enhancers. Sales of seasoning mix items surged by 80 percent year-over-year, while recipe mix sales jumped by 72 percent.

Seasoning mixes were sold in 69 percent more sari-sari stores, and recipe mixes reached 79 percent more locations.

According to the study, Bicol emerged as the fastest-growing region, surpassing previous years’ top performers.

Meanwhile, Packworks’ inaugural Sari-Sari Store Innovation Summit brought together industry leaders to discuss the future of the sector.

Former Trade Undersecretary Ed Sunico emphasized the critical role of sari-sari stores in the Philippine economy and the need for public-private partnerships to support their growth.

Packworks is a B2B platform that connects sari-sari store owners with suppliers. Through its Sari IQ tool, the company provides valuable insights to help retailers and brands make informed decisions.
