The Department of Agriculture (DA) added nine new locations to the Rice-for-All program, following the initial launch in five public markets and select train stations last week.
It said the new locations are Maypajo Public Market in Caloocan City, Murphy Market and Cloverleaf Balintawak in Quezon City, La Huerta Market in Parañaque City and Trabajo Market in Sampaloc, Manila.
Several train stations were also added to the initiative, including Cubao and Recto along the Light Rail Transit Line 2 and North Ave. and Ayala Ave. along the Metro Rail Transit Line-3.
Tiu Laurel visited the Pasay City Public Market to oversee the continued expansion of the KADIWA ng Pangulo kiosks under the Rice-for-All program, which aims to provide affordable rice to Filipino consumers.
The Rice-for-All program is a key part of the KADIWA ng Pangulo initiative, a joint effort between the DA’s Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service and Food Terminal Inc. (FTI).
The program aims to ease the burden of high rice prices on Filipino households.
“This initiative demonstrates the government’s resolve to provide immediate and sustainable solutions to the rice price crisis,” Tiu Laurel said.
