DTI, Taguig simplify business registration for entrepreneurs

Department of Trade and Industry Secretary (DTI) Alfredo Pascual urged Filipinos to formally register their businesses following the integration of the DTI’s Business Name Registration System (BNRS) into Taguig City’s Business Permitting and Licensing System (Apollo 2.0).

“We aim to encourage more Filipinos to establish and formally register their businesses by simplifying the registration process. Our collective efforts will unlock opportunities, empowering more businesses to thrive and contribute to the sustainable growth and development of our country,” said Pascual.

The DTI worked with Taguig City to streamline business registrations with a system-to-system approach, which was formalized through a memorandum of agreement signed on May 2, 2024.

Taguig’s permit and licensing system will automatically validate business permit applications against the DTI’s business name registrations without requiring copies of their DTI registration certificates.

It will also ensure reliable and secure transactions, real-time access to information, and enhanced detection of falsified documents.

The initiative enhances the ease of doing business and creates a more conducive business ecosystem for local entrepreneurs, particularly within the micro, small and medium enterprise sector.

The partnership is aligned with the Marcos administration’s whole-of-government approach and is part of the DTI’s BNRS Online Integration with Local Government Units and National Government Agencies project.

“Together, let’s harness innovation, streamline regulations, and embrace digital platforms as we build a more inclusive, dynamic business ecosystem that embodies the spirit of Bagong Pilipinas,” said Pascual.
