The National Electrification Administration on Friday asked electric cooperatives to submit their 2023 Sitio Electrification Program priority projects and documentary requirements in preparation for the release of government subsidy.

It also advised the electric cooperatives to “limit the total project cost to P50 million per EC due to limited appropriation.”

The agency said the ECs should be fully liquidated from previous subsidy releases before the issuance of the new subsidy and should complete the project/s no later than Dec. 31, 2023.

It said ECs have until May 15, 2023 to submit necessary documents such as budget request, plan bill of materials, plan staking sheets, barangay certification, board resolution, among others in relation to the issuance of special allotment release order from the Department of Budget and Management.

NEA administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda in January accepted the challenge to attain 100 -percent electrification in the country by 2028.

He directed the ECs to fast-track the liquidation of their previously funded projects to get another round of the SEP budget.

“I have set the goal of total electrification by 2028. When I assumed office I took a serious look into the manner of implementation of sitio electrification and I am bent on issuing stringent guidelines for its effective implementation,” Almenda said.

The NEA said 10,212 sitios with about 1.168 million households have yet to be energized.
