Globe Telecom Inc. and its partners are spending $150 million to build the longest submarine cable network to boost connectivity across the country.

Globe, Eastern Communications, and telecommunications and digital solutions provider InfiniVAN on July 14 began the deployment of fiber cables to build the Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network.

PDSCN is a joint project among the three companies to improve both mobile and broadband connectivity and fiberize previously unserved areas across the three main island groups.

Executives of Globe, Eastern Communications InfiniVAN, and Japanese vendor partner Kokusai Cable Ship Co. Ltd. gave a simple sendoff to state-of-the-art ship Cable Infinity, the “number one high-technology cable ship in the world” in ceremonies in Subic Bay, Zambales.
