Corporate bond issuances hit P213b

Corporate bond issuances at the Philippine Dealing & Exchange Corp. reached P213.45 billion in 2021, down 45 percent from the record P387.83-billion bond listing in 2020.

Data from PDex showed that 23 listings took place in 2021, lower than 36 in 2020. Despite the lower bond offerings in 2021, PDex attracted new issuers including AREIT Inc., the real estate investment trust company of Ayala Land Inc., D&L Industries Inc. and Phinma Corp.

Among the biggest corporate bond issuances last year were the P30-billion due 2027 bond offering of San Miguel Corp., the P21-billion two-year bond offering of Development Bank of the Philippines, the P19-billion bond offering of Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. and the P18-billion bond offering of Petron Corp.

Total level of tradable corporate debt instruments at PDex stood at P1.3 trillion issued by 54 companies, with 191 securities as of end-2021.
