Manila Electric Co., the biggest retailer of electricity, launched Friday its renewable energy unit Spectrum and teamed up with Robinsons Novaliches to build a 1.87-megawatt solar project.

Meralco said in a statement Spectrum’s launch signaled its foray into renewable energy and other technologies as part of its commitment to sustainability.

“The Meralco brands if expertise in energy puts Spectrum in a unique industry position as we move towards our mission to be a one-stop-shop for renewable energy solutions,” Spectrum president Jose Rainier Reyes said.

He said Spectrum aimed to provide tailor-fit solutions for industrial, industrial and residential customers through their in-depth understanding of energy consumption behaviors and the company’s strategic partnerships with world-class technology partners.

“We strive for continued innovation and to be at the cutting edge of renewable technology,” Reyes said.

Spectrum offers customers outright purchase and lease or managed services.

Aside from reducing the cost of energy and generating power from clean sources, solar adoption monetizes the roof, enhances property value and reduces utilization of air-conditioning units since solar panels provide insulation from the heat of solar radiation.

Robinsons Land Corp. president Frederick Go supported the company’s move towards solar adoption.

“We are very interested in exploring solar technology and are glad that by doing this, we are also able to promote sustainability and social responsibility,” Go said.

Spectrum offers its partners end-to-end technical capability with Meralco trained engineers. It is supported by world-class service and product providers.

These ensure costumers with quart and safety of installed PV systems while enabling them to work within financing options that fit them.
