The Board of Investments and the Tourism Department teamed up with the Philippine Association of Convention/Exhibition Organizers and Suppliers Inc. to prepare the roadmap for the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions or MICE industry.
“We recognize the importance of tourism as one of the main drivers for inclusive growth since it is one of the largest employment generators in the country,” said Trade Secretary and BoI chairman Ramon Lopez.
Trade undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo said the tourism industry was one of the industries being considered for inclusion in the inclusive business category in the proposed 2017 Investment Priorities Plan.
“The agreement will boost the local tourism industry. Once the MICE roadmap is in place, it will lead to more investments not only in the accommodation sector, but also in the infrastructure side,” Rodolfo said.
The MICE roadmap aims to enhance the competitiveness of the industry with assessment and formulation of actions plans to address issues and concerns within the industry.
