Lucio Tan Group’s Absolut Distillers Inc. recently inaugurated its newly completed and modern laboratory facility to ensure alcohol quality.

The company modernized the laboratory plant to keep up with the expansion of manufacturing facilities, and provide a safe and conducive working condition for laboratory personnel as well as for their high-end equipment.

“To date, ADI has been successful in ensuring that all processes in the distillery are within or even beyond industry standards. The new laboratory will help us achieve this,” Tanduay president and chief operating officer Lucio Tan Jr. said.

“We never rest on our laurels and personally, it feels so rewarding to have a team that is truly dedicated and committed to ADI’s advocacy in promoting environmental sustainability initiatives,” he added.

Absolut Distillers is one of the country’s recognized front-runners in advocating green economy since the 1990s.

The United Nations cites methane gas emissions as the primary cause of global warming.

Located inside the laboratory premises is where the yeast culture acclimatization, propagation, and inoculation takes place, processes which are essential to the plant operations.

Absolut Distillers in December last year bared plans to put a sugar mill and cogeneration plant that will require investments of at least P500 million.

The company last year completed a 30 million liters per annum bioethanol facility in Lian, Batangas.

Absolut Distillers also owns a solar power generation plant at the plant site in Batangas.

Absolut Distillers was established in 1990 under the company Absolut Chemicals Inc., which was engaged in the manufacture of ethyl alcohol and liquefied carbon dioxide as fermentation by-products used for producing soft drinks.
