Hyundai’s sales up 50% in 9 months

Hyundai Asia Resources Inc., the official distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the country, said Wednesday sales in the first nine months jumped 50 percent to 25,021 vehicles from 16,703 units recorded in the same period in 2015.

“Nearing the close of 2016, a more favorable outlook is seen for the remainder of the year as Hyundai is likely to maintain its growth momentum, mirroring the vitality of the country’s economy and its fast-growing automotive industry.  With an endless potential, the company will continue to relentlessly satisfy its customers with its line-up of modern premium products and services,” said Hari president and chief executive Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo,

Hari said both the passenger car and light commercial vehicle segments posted sales growth of 56 percent percent and 37 percent, respectively to 17,744 and 7,277 units.

Meanwhile, third-quarter sales soared 53 percent for the passenger car segment to 6,537 from 4,283 units while the light commercial vehicle segment increased sales by 23 percent to 2,122 from 1,731 units.

Total third-quarter sales went up 44 percent to 8,659 from 6,014 units.
