British Columbia said Friday it reached an agreement with fastfood giant Jollibee Foods Corp. over the establishment of several stores across the Canadian province.
British Columbia Premier Christy Clark said she was optimistic the deal with Jollibee would the first of the many business collaborations between the Philippines and British Columbia.
“This economy [Philippines] is growing quickly. We see huge opportunity for British Columbia to further the relationship not only in trade but in education and clean energy,” she said.
The newly established British Columbia Trade and Investment Representative Office and the Embassy of Canada arranged two diplomatic events Thursday and Friday for the first trade mission of British Columbia to the Philippines.
Members of the mission signed Thursday five agreements on IT, education and healthcare.
The IT deal covers a supply agreement where Incognito Software will provide the software requirement of Globe Telecom Inc. for internet protocol management.
