Denmark companies explore PH

Sixteen companies from Denmark are now in the Philippines to explore investment opportunities in port management, seafood processing and trade.

Denmark Ambassador to the Philippines Jan Top Christensen said the five-day trade mission was the first Danish business delegation on fishery in the Philippines.

“Since we re-established our embassy here in the Philippines one year past now, we have noticed growing interest from the Danish side to get to know opportunities in the Philippines. Your country’s high growth rate was a big factor for them coming here,” he said.

Christensen said the change in consumption patterns in favor of more quality and exquisite products was what Danish products and processes had been promoting for decades.

He said the fishery sector of Denmark had improved standards to follow requirements of the Danish government.

“Denmark is representing the top level of quality and safety,” he said.

Lars Siggaard Andersen, head of the Danish delegation, said 16 companies from Denmark visited the Philippines to look for opportunities in the Philippine fishery sector.

“These evaluations may encourage some, if not all delegates, to come back on their own and make the necessary arrangements for partnerships, should there be,” he said.

The delegation included technology and equipment companies like Comet Trawl Aps, Thyboron Skibssmedie A/S, Scotia E 567 A/S, TSR Electronic A/S, Guardian Security and Risk Management Aps, Vestkajens Maskinvaerksted A/S and ColdA/S.

The delegation also included land-based companies with interests in food processing such as Kolemadsen A/S, Osolos Maskin fabric Aps, Km Fish Machinery A/S, Marine EI A/S, Smoke Solution Aps, Danmarin A/S, Treco A/S, Skov Advokater and Hirtsharld Yard A/S.

Another Danish business delegation from the energy sector will visit the Philippines in April while a third mission will come in September to look at the health sector.

“Previously, the Philippines is not on the radar. But with the economic changes, the Philippines has emerged as a country of opportunities,” said Andersen.
