Israel showcased its finest wine collections during its first wine event, “L’Chaim, Discover Israeli Wine,” held Dec. 4. The event, held at Uma Nota in Bonifacio Global City, was attended by government officials, business leaders, media personalities, sommeliers, and wine enthusiasts.
Organized by the Israeli Embassy in the Philippines, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism, and the Israel Ministry of Economy and Industry, the event aimed to position Israel as a premier destination for wine enthusiasts and attract Filipino wine distributors to explore its offerings.
Haim Katz, Israel’s minister of tourism, attended the event and highlighted the cultural importance of wine in Jewish traditions. “Wine signifies much more than just a drink; it symbolizes acquaintance, friendship, brotherhood, and the opening of new ways for connections between people,” Katz said. He also underscored Israel’s appeal as a unique tourist destination, particularly for Christian pilgrims.
Ambassador Ilan Fluss called the event a milestone in strengthening ties between Israel and the Philippines. “L’Chaim is more than just a toast—it’s a celebration of life, friendship, and the bright future we are building together,” he said, adding that Israel’s wine industry has evolved from biblical-era vineyards to a globally recognized sector.
Ofek Venecianer, economic counselor and head of the Israel Economic Mission to the Philippines, praised the winery representatives who traveled to Manila.
“Tonight, we celebrated not only the craftsmanship of Israeli wines but also the passion, heritage, and innovation that make them exceptional,” she said.
Israeli wine expert and international judge Haim Gan shared insights into the industry’s growth and global accolades. Representatives from major wineries, including Teperberg, Bin Nun Winery, Amphorae Winery, and Lotem Organic Winery, presented over 50 wine selections.
