Inspired by K-Pop, Chavit wants to use culture to attract foreign visitors

Did you know League of Municipalities President and Narvacan Ilocos Sur Mayor Luis Chavit Singson is also a firm believer and follower of K-Pop? Remember he brought and hosted K-Pop girl group Momoland in the country some years ago?

As proof, his LCS Group of Companies where he is the founder and the chairman is planning to expand its investment more on hotels, residential buildings, malls, resorts, and who knows, maybe producing K-dramas, too, in South Korea.

In a statement sent Manila Standard Entertainment, Singson said that the Korean wave – the popularity of the country’s cultural economy exporting pop culture, entertainment, music, TV dramas, and movies – will attract visitors from the world again.

Back to his hometown in Narvacan, Singson is determined to position Narvacan as a first-class municipality by pushing to finish his project model, the ongoing construction of the Narvacan Public Market, and the distribution of electric jeepneys to drivers after the public market is completed on December 8 of this year.

The Narvacan Public Market has a total development area of 15,916 square meters, the building floor area of the trading center is 6,150 square meters. Once it is completed, it will become the most sophisticated public market in the Philippines because of its modern design, its special features, and its solar panel roofing making Narvacan at the forefront of modern innovation among other local government units. By using the solar panel roofing, the former governor believes that he can save up to 30 to 40 percent less of the regular electric bill and to whoever would want to use the solar panel as the source of power supply.

As the LMP president, Singson encourages all the local government units to follow Narvacan’s lead in using solar panel roofing so there will be more funds to save for other projects. He even added that the LCS Group of Companies is willing to invest in distributing solar panels to LGU’s all over the country as a startup.

In front of the Narvacan Public Market is the parking area with solar panel roofing. This will serve as the power source for the charging of 5000 electric jeepneys, which will be distributed by the town’s local government to jeepney drivers upon the initiative of the mayor in response to the government’s plan to modernize old jeepneys and replace them with newer, more eco-friendly models. This will make Narvacan the first LGU to use an all e-jeepney as public transportation. Recipients will get the unit on a monthly installment basis without any downpayment to help them upgrade easily. This e-jeepney project is funded by the LCS Group of Companies and can also be extended to local government units nationwide.

The LCS Group of Companies also leads the construction of common towers in the country with over a hundred LCS common towers now ready for telcos and is also engaged in other ventures like mining, transportation, communication, online entertainment, malls, and hotels.
