Vice President Leni Robredo believes there are lapses in the Duterte drug war, following the Department of Justice (DOJ) findings on 52 deaths from drug operations.

During her weekly radio program, Robredo said based on report, the DOJ contradicted the claim of the Philippine National Police of “nanlaban” or the victims fought back during drug operations.

“Actually, the DOJ’s investigation is not yet done but initial findings confirmed that there are really many lapses,” she said.

“There is a lot of things done that are not within the bounds of the law. So it is good to know that the DOJ is reviewing them. Only a few are under investigation. But it is better that these are being reviewed,” she added.

She said she is hoping that justice be served on the victims.

“We hope to give justice to those who died. It is important for the bereaved families to have clear data as to who killed their relatives, why they were killed, what could be the circumstance behind their deaths, if there were lapses, and if they were really victims of extrajudicial killing. We have to hold those behind these accountable,” she stressed.
