Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday credited the increase in her 2020 net worth to the estate of her late 83-year-old mother, Salvacion Gerona, who passed away in February 2020.
In 2020, Robredo’s net worth jumped to P11.9 million from P3.5 million in 2019, the highest increase in her assets since she assumed the vice presidency in 2016.
Her 2019 net worth was higher by P1.2 million from her declared net worth of P2.3 million in 2018.
Robredo, during her weekly radio program, said her 2020 net worth increase was due to the properties that were left behind by her late mother.
However, the Vice President said her net worth could still change since her siblings have yet to settle their share of their mother’s inheritance.
“I reported what is mine in my Statements of Assets and Liabilities Net Worth. I stated in my SALN that it is still subject to final settlement,” she clarified.
Based on her 2020 SALN, the Vice President’s wealth was P11,904,280, or P8.4 million bigger than her wealth in 2019 with her prepaid insurance’s increase from P655,000 to P705,000.
Meanwhile, Robredo said she wanted a lone standard-bearer for the opposition in the 2022 presidential elections.
“When we talk of unity, we do not only mean unity for having the same principle. But one that gives space for different principles we believe in,” the VP said.
She reacted to the list of the opposition coalition 1Sambayan that included her in the list of possible candidates for the presidency.
“Let us try to understand why many are attracted to run for president.
Why many (people) are attracted to be this kind of politician? We need to recognize that. We just cannot say that we are just the one who are good, and righteous,” she said.
