T1 battled its way to The International 10 after a 2-0 victory over China’s Team Aster in the upper-bracket of the WePlay AniMajor Wednesday night.
After garnering a total of 970 Dota Pro Circuit Points, the team will be directly invited to Valve’s biggest tournament, which offers a prize pool of $40 million dollars or almost P2 billion, joining the ranks of Virtus.pro, Evil Geniuses, and PSG.LGD.
Filipino Carlo "Kuku" Palad, who captains the team, is no stranger to The International as he had the opportunity to compete there twice in 2016 and 2017. However, he did not bring home the gold as his team placed 7th-8th in 2016 and 9th-12th the following year.
With the victory, the team’s Filipino midlaner, Karl Matthew Baldovino alongside carry Thai Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon and Indonesian supports Matthew "Whitemon" Filemon and Kenny "Xepher" Deo, will debut in the biggest Dota stage of them all.
The team will continue its skirmish in the WePlay AniMajor against North American team Quincy Crew on June 12 in Kiev, Ukraine.
The International 10 will be held in Stockholm, Sweden starting on August 5.
The grand champion will take home an estimated prize of $17 million or P812 million.
