Caloocan City Councilor Orvince Howard A. Hernandez on Friday lauded senators for their approval of Senate Bill No. 2124, which reforms the country’s youth councilors’ system.
“On behalf of the officials and members of all Sangguniang Kabataan and the entire youth sector of the City of Caloocan, I would like to express my gratitude to the honorable senators for approving SBN 2124, otherwise known as ‘An Act Strengthening the Sangguniang Kabataan By Institutionalizing Additional Reforms to Revitalize Youth Participation in Governance and for Other Purposes.’”
“Our thanks especially to Senator Sonny Angara, the principal sponsor of this measure,” Hernandez added.
The councilor noted that among other privileges provided under SBN 2124, every SK member, secretary, and treasurer shall be given a monthly honorarium, and local government units may give additional honoraria. They shall also be given hazard pay and social welfare contribution, he said.
“After completing the term of office, SK officials shall be granted Civil Service eligibility and shall be exempted from any of the components of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) 1 and 2,” the councilor added.
“As president of the SK Federation of Caloocan City and a city councilor, I fully support this measure and I hope that it will be enacted into law as soon as possible,” Hernandez said.
“Bagama’t sa simula pa lang ay talagang naglilingkod na nang buong puso ang mga SK official sa pakikipagtulungan ng mga member, ang mga reporma pong ito ay dagdag na inspirasyon upang lalo silang magserbisyo nang buong tapat at buong sipag. Muli, salamat sa ating mga mambabatas,” he added.
