The Bases Conversion and Development Authority announced a record-high contribution of P17.8 billion to the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the first five years of the Duterte administration until the first quarter of 2021.
“The goal of BCDA is to breach or exceed the contribution to the AFP by previous administration as we still have around one year left of the Duterte administration,” said BCDA president and chief executive officer Vince Dizon.
He said the magnitude of the contribution commensurated to the commitment and support of the government to upgrade and modernize the capabilities of the nation’s armed forces.
The BCDA, he added, does not only support the military, it also continues to help all Filipinos gravely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“These challenging times should not deter us from delivering our commitment of strengthening the Armed Forces while building great cities. We will intensify our development projects with the private sector to help in the recovery of our economy and provide more job opportunities for our countrymen,” Dizon said.
