NGCP finally energizes San Jose-Quezon line

Transmission operator National Grid Corp. of the Philippines said Monday it successfully energized its San Jose-Quezon 230-kiloVolt Line 3 and is ramping up its transmission services in anticipation of increasing power supply and demand in the coming years.

The project is part of the P1.644-billion program approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission, which includes the transmission line and the upgrade and expansion of NGCP’s San Jose and Quezon 230-kV substations.

“NGCP is proud to report that we were able to energize the line despite the setbacks encountered due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We recognize the importance of ensuring reliable power transmission services at all times, especially at the height of a global health threat where hospitals and other critical facilities require uninterrupted delivery of power,” NGCP said in a statement.

The 19-kilometer San Jose-Quezon Line 3 traverses the cities of Quezon, Caloocan, Valenzuela and San Jose del Monte and widens the power transmission corridor, allowing any and all available and incoming supply from power plants to transmit to the country’s load center.
